Electric hand dryers are the choice made by public-facing facilities to save money and reduce their impact on the planet.

Paper towels can cost up to 10x more than electric hand dryers

Paper towel costs are volatile

Cellulose, water and energy: the three pillars of paper towels are also among the materials most exposed to industrial inflation. Energy crises have a direct impact on paper prices.

Hand dryers use very little energy while offering a fast drying time of 10 to 20 seconds. In the end, this means lower electricity use and greater savings.

In addition, they require no labour for paper towel refills and therefore no daily intervention.

Electric hand dryers VS paper towel dispensers: an objective comparison

The hidden costs of paper towels:

The need for constant refilling Paper towel dispensers require daily refilling, which is costly in both time and labour, whereas hand dryers eliminate this constraint.
High maintenance costs They generate constant waste: full bins, blocked sinks and costly daily cleaning, all of which can be avoided with hand dryers.
Strained logistics Unpredictable stock shortages mean interrupted service, an unacceptable risk for any public-facing facility.
A significant environmental impact Manufacturing, transport, disposal: the full life cycle of paper towels is a major source of CO2.

Have questions? We have the answers

Is the initial investment in a hand dryer really profitable ?

“Paper costs next to nothing”

That’s true, and that is exactly the trap. A paper towel dispenser can be installed for just a few dozen euros. But it then generates recurring, invisible and growing costs: consumables, deliveries, refill labour and waste management. After 12 to 18 months, the balance systematically shifts in favour of the hand dryer. In most cases, ROI is achieved in less than 2 years.

What about electricity consumption ?

Our high-speed hand dryers consume between 550 W and 1,800 W depending on the model, for a drying time of only 10 seconds. Based on real-life usage, electricity consumption is minimal: just a few cents per day, even in a high-traffic facility. Compare this cost with your annual paper consumables budget.

Does installing a hand dryer require major work ?

Most of our models can be installed in under an hour with a wall-mounted connection.

What happens in the event of a breakdown ?

With paper systems, there are no breakdowns, that is true. But with paper, the “breakdown” is a stock shortage, and it always happens at the worst possible time. An empty dispenser in public washrooms creates a poor user experience that is immediate and visible. Hand dryers are designed for maximum reliability in high-traffic environments.

Are hand dryers really hygienic ?

The idea that hand dryers blow bacteria all over the air is persistent. The latest independent studies show that modern hand dryers, when used after proper hand washing, do not present a higher health risk than paper towels. Hand contamination depends above all on the quality of hand washing, not the drying method. Paper also has its own hygiene issues: dispensers handled by hundreds of people, overflowing bins, dirty floors…

Is noise a problem for users ?

With the first generations of high-speed hand dryers, yes. With today’s generation, no. Our quiet models go below 65 dB, the equivalent of a normal conversation. Specific ranges are available for environments where acoustic comfort is a priority: hotels, fine dining restaurants and office spaces.

How can I convince my management team with concrete figures ?

This is the most legitimate objection, and the easiest one to address. Our savings calculator is designed precisely for this: to produce a personalised estimate based on your actual footfall, which you can present directly to your management team or purchasing committee.

Which hand dryer should I choose ?

Temperature, footfall, noise level, accessibility for people with reduced mobility, robustness, budget: choosing a professional hand dryer is more than just a purchase. Discover our hand dryer selection guide.
