JVD x Accor Design Awards Partnership: Combining Innovation and Design

Committed to innovation and the exploration of hospitality design trends, JVD once again partnered with the Accor Design Awards. The 2024 edition was particularly special, as it also marked Sofitel’s 60th anniversary.

The awards ceremony took place during MAISON&OBJET in Paris, an international event that brings together young designers from around the world. As a long-standing partner of this initiative, we are proud to help shine a spotlight on these emerging talents.

Celebrating visionary concepts

This year, students were invited to reimagine the Sofitel lobby, focusing on key themes such as art, sustainability, and culture. The level of creativity presented was truly remarkable.

The winners of the 2024 Accor Design Awards are:

  • First Prize: Axelle Féret, Jeanne Duval, Ilann Picard, and Julie Louveau from L’École de design Nantes Atlantique, for their groundbreaking project “Midori Hotel”, a fusion of nature, design, and sustainability.
  • Second Prize: Eloïse Bour and Nicolas Chircop from ESAIL, Interior Design and Architecture School in Lyon, for their project “L’Éclat de Bulles”, an imaginative and refined lobby concept blending art and immersion.
  • Third Prize: Rocaille Lelaina Argos, Tia Yapp, Lin Lin Win Tun, and Christine Pazpinis from UNSW Sydney, for their project “(re): trouvaille”, which explores the link between architecture and sensory experience in public spaces.

JVD, a trusted partner in the hospitality industry

For 40 years, JVD teams have been driven by design and product quality. “Our mission is to contribute to creating a unique guest experience in hotels through innovative, stylish, and high-quality solutions,” explains Thierry Launois, CEO of JVD. “We firmly believe that hospitality design goes beyond aesthetics. It should bring calm and comfort while reflecting the soul and identity of each place.”

This vision is perfectly aligned with Accor’s approach, where design is a cornerstone of the guest experience, and young talents are encouraged to rethink hospitality spaces to meet modern expectations and sensitivities..

Creativity just around the corner from JVD

Once again this year, L’École de design Nantes Atlantique stood out, proudly winning first prize. “This school, located just 1.3 km from our headquarters, is a true testament to the creativity and dynamism of our region,” notes Thierry Launois.

JVD’s close relationship with this design school continues to inspire our vision for the future of hospitality: “We are eager to see how these projects will be implemented and how they will shape the transformation of the hospitality sector,” adds the CEO of JVD.

Together, we are reinventing the hospitality of tomorrow—with the ambition to create spaces where design, well-being, and guest experience come first.
