On the occasion of its 40th anniversary, JVD launches “Reborn by JVD”, a new refurbishment program for its hand dryers and, eventually, all products manufactured in Nantes. Through this initiative, the company offers its customers an eco-friendly and economical alternative to new devices, while also aiming to support the gradual reintegration of vulnerable individuals into the job market.
“We are very proud to launch ‘Reborn by JVD,’ an initiative that reflects JVD’s eco-responsible commitments and meets the ethical expectations of our customers. Developing this offer was a true challenge that motivated all our teams throughout 2023. We aim to create a virtuous circle with all stakeholders involved,” says Thierry Launois, CEO of JVD.
A 100% Nantes-based refurbishment offering
While very few companies today are able to take back their own products, JVD launches its new service offering, “Reborn by JVD,” designed and developed in Nantes. This initiative is based on a circular economy model aimed at giving JVD products, especially hand dryers, a second life. Refurbished units are resold at a reduced price. This new valorization activity enables JVD to reduce waste, natural resource use, and plastic consumption.
To further its commitment and stay true to its eco-responsible goals, products are tested and refurbished on-site at the company’s facilities. This initiative helps limit CO2 emissions from its operations.
In line with this approach, JVD recycles end-of-life devices by cleaning and sorting them by material to maximize their recovery. These products undergo rigorous testing before being offered for sale again on a dedicated website.
An inclusive approach contributing to the local economy
Once collected, the products undergo analysis, sorting, and repair by a skilled manufacturing team with complementary expertise. As part of this activity, JVD has partnered with an ESAT (a French sheltered workshop) to employ workers undergoing social reintegration or living with disabilities. The company has trained them in refurbishing and restoring its products.
Furthermore, the launch of Reborn by JVD contributes to the local economic momentum by creating new jobs in the region, especially in maintenance and refurbishment sectors.
The ecological and economic benefits of the Reborn solution reflect the company’s ethical and human values. With this offering, initially focused on hand dryers, JVD aims to raise awareness and encourage market players to act by choosing a more responsible and sustainable alternative to single-use paper.
