Located in Paris’s 1st arrondissement, in the heart of a lively pedestrian area, Hôtel Relais des Halles is a 4-star establishment offering 19 rooms across 6 floors. “The hotel mainly welcomes tourists as well as business travelers. We host a highly diverse international clientele from many different countries,” explains Éloïse Lefebvre, Assistant Manager.

As a boutique hotel, Le Relais des Halles focuses on creating a warm atmosphere and delivering personalized service. “We want our guests to feel at home, with all the comfort they need right at their fingertips,” says Éloïse Lefebvre.
However, unpleasant odors were regularly disrupting the guest experience—whether from perfume, body odors, or lingering tobacco smells—despite the hotel’s strict no-smoking policy. “We wanted to offer our guests a neutral atmosphere, free of any trace left by previous occupants.”
Shield, A Tried and Tested Solution, Adopted with Confidence
Before adopting the Shield, the hotel relied on “air bubbles” and ozone machines introduced during the Covid period. However, these options proved less than ideal: “We were looking for something more discreet, easy to integrate into every room, and without any added scent,” explains Éloïse Lefebvre.
The JVD team supported the hotel through a two-week trial period with the Shield air purifier. Convinced by the results, the Relais des Halles chose to equip all its rooms.
Each room now features a Shield Compact, discreetly placed on the desk, with another unit at the reception. “After each departure, our staff activates the standard mode. In case of persistent odors, we use the boost mode. Then the guest is free to use it as they wish during their stay.”
