Alys Association in brief
Alys is a non-profit association that supports families through various activities, including childcare in its 16 daycare centers. These facilities are now equipped with Novven cabinets to daily disinfect the toys used by the children.
KEY RESULTS
The context: rethinking hygiene to free up more time for the children
Alys has initiated an in-depth review regarding the use of chemical products and the burden that toy maintenance places on its teams. The objective is twofold:
- To reduce the exposure of both children and staff to products that may be harmful in the long term (the association previously used disinfectant products that required rinsing).
- To give time back to early childhood professionals so that they can dedicate it to the children rather than to tasks related to hygiene.
It is in line with this approach that Alys is installing the first Novven 3S cabinets in its daycare centers.
Observed benefits
A real time-saving benefit for the teams
The arrival of Covid had made daily cleaning of toys mandatory, a workload that the association had previously sought to alleviate due to a lack of suitable solutions. Novven has made it possible to maintain these high sanitary standards without placing this burden on the teams. The result: a time saving of approximately half an hour per day, per facility.
More toys available for children
Before Novven, some teams voluntarily limited the number of toys put out to reduce manual cleaning time. This is no longer necessary today: children have access to a wider selection throughout the day.
Prolonged equipment lifespan
Wooden and fabric toys, which were previously replaced approximately every 3 years, now have their lifespan doubled. The reason: significantly less moisture exposure for wood, which is dried rapidly by the machine, compared to the repeated cycles in a standard washing machine used previously.
A ritual cherished by the children
In some facilities, the children themselves participate at the end of the day: they gather the toys into baskets and help carry them to the cabinet. This ritual, associated with the arrival of parents, provides reassuring landmarks for the youngest children.
In summary: The key takeaways for Alys
It’s practical, and it saves time. It allows the staff to spend more time with the children, rather than on logistics.
Lauriane Zasempa, trained pediatric nurse
Following the widespread implementation of the system across a large portion of the association’s 16 daycare centers, the results are positive: fewer logistical constraints for the teams, more time spent with the children, longer-lasting equipment, and a reduction in the use of chemical products. All these factors have enabled Alys to sustainably rethink hygiene within its facilities.
